Omar Abdullah hits out at Election Commission for ‘delayed’ J&K elections

Former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, on Wednesday said that the Election Commission of India should be ashamed and seek forgiveness from people as the Supreme Court had to intervene and issue directions for assembly elections in the Union Territory.

“Unfortunately, the Supreme Court had to intervene and issue directions for assembly elections here. The decision ECI had to take was taken by SC. ECI should be ashamed of itself and seek forgiveness from people,” the National Conference leader said.

“If we are the mother of democracy, then why isn’t democracy being implemented in J&K,” he asked.
