Noida Airport & BPCL join forces for eco-friendly aviation fuel pipeline, cutting emissions & boosting efficiency for a greener future.

In a significant move towards greener aviation, Noida International Airport (NIA) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) inked a pact on February 20, 2024.

The deal aims to construct a special pipeline for aviation turbine fuel (ATF) from BPCL’s Piyala Terminal to the tank farm at Noida International Airport. This pipeline will not only efficiently meet the airport’s ATF needs but also slash carbon emissions.

As per the Press Release, the agreement was sealed by Shri Sujit Kumar, Chief General Manager, Marketing (Aviation) from BPCL, and Ms. Nitu Samra, Chief Financial Officer, NIA. The event witnessed the presence of key officials including Shri Biju Gopinath, Executive Director (Pipelines), Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Business Head (Aviation) from BPCL, Ms. Kiran Jain, Chief Operating Officer, and Ms. Mayuri Vats, Head of Legal from NIA.

Spanning over 34 kilometers, with 1.2 kilometers within the airport premises, this dedicated ATF pipeline will operate on a common/contract carrier basis, ensuring smooth fuel transportation.

This initiative aligns with Noida International Airport’s commitment to environmental responsibility. By streamlining fuel receipt operations and cutting down on tank lorry movements, the pipeline will significantly reduce emissions.

Shri Sukhmal Jain, Director (Marketing) at BPCL, reiterated the company’s dedication to curbing carbon emissions by reducing road transportation of fuel. He highlighted BPCL’s history of setting up ATF facilities and allied infrastructure at airports across India.

Ms. Kiran Jain, Chief Operating Officer of Noida International Airport, echoed these sentiments, expressed “We are pleased to collaborate with BPCL for the development of a common-use fuel transportation pipeline, which aligns with our strategic vision of offering cost-efficient and sustainable solutions that are more economical for the transportation of liquid fuels compared to road transport. We are confident that this move will reduce carbon emissions and boost our overall efficiency, contributing to a more sustainable future, which is the need of the hour.”
