In 2014 and 2019, the Union Minister of Transport emerged victorious in the polls from this constituency. Nagpur during the polls sees a battle between BJP, Congress and BSP.

As of the 2011 census, Nagpur District comprising 14 tahsils had a population of 46,53,171.and Nagpur city had a population of 24,05,421 and the urban agglomeration had a population of 25,23,911. The district had a sex ratio of 948 per 1000 male compared to 2001 census figure of 932.

Official data by ECI suggests that Nagpur had a voter turnout at 54.70%, lower than 2014’s turnout where it people who casted their vote were 57.12%.

As of now, the parties are expecting to release their candidates for the Nagpur constituency in their upcoming list. In the first list of 195 candidates, Nagpur was not mentioned but reports suggest that Nitin Gadkari will be given a ticket with the hope of completing his hat trick in 18th Lok Sabha. In the two lists, Congress has not contested its candidate for the constituency as of now.
