Mushroom farmer’s way to store vegetable so they last over a week and don’t get ‘slimy’

A woman has taken to social media platform TikTok to share a nifty tip that she said she learned from a mushroom farmer. It will help preserve your mushrooms and ensure they last for more than just two days.

“Okay so let’s store mushrooms so that they last over a week and so they don’t get slimy,” she started her TikTok video off.

“I’m Kat. I’m a trained chef and a recipe developer and I really hate throwing food away,” she said.

“Fresh mushrooms are 80 to 90 percent water, so we want to make sure that the moisture can escape, or else they will get slimy.

“So put them into a paper bag, fold it over to keep drafts out, and put it in the fridge. Enjoy.”

“I am absolutely loving the storage tips! Thanks so much,” another added.

“What?! I had no clue I should be doing this,” a third said.

“Hate throwing food away too! Love this,” an additional individual chimed in.
