Multiple Schools Receive Bomb Threat, Students Evacuated; Search Operation Underway

At least eight schools in Delhi NCR including Sanskriti, Mother Mary’s School, Amity and DPS have received bomb threats. Students have been evacuated and investigation is underway.

New Delhi: A bomb threat has been received by at least ten schools of Delhi NCR via email, namely, the Delhi Public School (DPS) in Dwarka, Mother Mary’s School Mayur Vihar, Delhi Public School Noida, Sanskriti School, DPS Vasant Kunj, Amity School in Pushp Vihar, DPS RK Puram, DPS Mathura Road, Amity Saket and DAV School in South West Delhi today morning. Delhi Police, the Bomb Disposal Squad and fire-tenders have been rushed to the spots; a search is underway to check whether the news of a bomb in the school is true or not and the students have been evacuated. The Bomb Disposal Team (BDT) undertook a proper, thorough checking of the school to ensure complete safety of all the staff and students. Bomb Threat Received By DPS, Dwarka

As mentioned earlier, a bomb threat has been received by the Delhi Public School in Dwarka, New Delhi following which, Delhi Police, Bomb Disposal Squad and fire tenders arrived at the spot and an extensive search is underway. More details about the same are awaited. In a statement, the Delhi Police has said, ” Information was received regarding a bomb in Delhi Public School, Dwarka. Delhi Police, Bomb Disposal Squad and fire tenders have arrived on the spot. Search is underway.”

Mother Mary’s School, Mayur Vihar Receives Bomb Threat

Along with DPS Dwarka, a bomb threat has also been received by Mother Mary’s School in Mayur Vihar, New Delhi. The threat was received by the school via an email and now, the entire school is being evacuated; the police and the bomb squad have reached the building and checking is being done to check whether the threat is a hoax or not. Delhi Police is now on high alert as on the same day, within a few hours, two schools of the national capital have received a bomb threat.

Sanskriti School Receives Bomb Threat, Students Evacuated

The third school to have received the bomb threat is Sanskriti School in Delhi. While not many details about the same have been revealed, the parents were asked to pick up their children and take them home. According to a student at Sanskriti School, the parents received a message to pick up their kids from school as ‘classes have been called of due to unforeseen circumstances’. Evacuation is still underway and the bomb and dog squad have reached the spot for a thorough check.

DPS Noida Receive Bomb Threat

The fourth school to receive a bomb threat today is DPS Noida, Sector 30; the school received a bomb threat via email and now, the school has been evacuated. This is not the first time that a DPS has received a bomb threat; in February this year, a case was registered when DPS RK Puram received a bomb threat by email and exactly last year, in May, DPS Mathura Road also received a bomb threat via email but it was later declared hoax by the police.

Delhi Police Statement On Bomb Threat To Schools

Reacting to these bomb threats received by Delhi NCR schools, Delhi Police has said, ‘During the initial investigation, it seems that since yesterday till now the mail has been sent to many places and it seems to be on the same pattern. Date line is not mentioned and BCC is mentioned in the mail, which means one mail has been sent to many places. At present an investigation is being done.’

Speaking exclusively to Zee News, DCP Noida, Ankit Singh has asked everyone to not panic and that an investigation is underway; cyber cell is also working on the emails that have been received; schools have been evacuated. There are reports that the bomb threats may actually be a mock drill but as of now, nothing has been confirmed, threats are being taken seriously to ensure the safety of the children and staff; investigation is underway.
