Casting director Mukesh Chhabra has grabbed attention with one of his controversial comments. Chhabra, during a conversation with Neelesh Misra, said that budding actors, who are in search of work would often go to funerals of big stars and try to make contact. Mukesh explained that how unskilled people would go to tremendous lengths to find work. The casting director also said that there have been times when he confronted those actors for their actions.

As the conversation with Neelesh Misra progressed, Chabbara revealed that there are so many people in the industry who are desperate to become actors. And, in order to do so, they would go to any extent and look for a role. To support his statement, “One senior actor passed away. At the funeral, a lot of actors were present. I don’t know why I am saying this, but few people attended the funeral just to make contacts, I don’t understand that desperation.”

Mukesh further added, “If you have learnt the craft, you are working hard, then I respect that. You have not taken any training, you have not learned anything and you are trying to come directly, that too in such situations. It’s frustrating to hear people speak in such situations, where they are not considering the reality of the world and their own situation.”

Mukesh expressed his confusion over such behaviour and has frequently advised struggling actors to show respect, especially during sombre occasions like funerals. He continued by stating that this behaviour angers him. Previously, the casting director had criticized the trend of young actors relying on their Instagram followers to secure roles.

He told Indian Express, “This generation is very different. They focus more on social media rather than their craft. I have seen Rajkummar Rao struggling, and I have seen Vicky Kaushal work hard. Today’s youngsters talk about making reels, and brag about their Instagram followers list.”
