LAWRENCE SHANKLAND shocked Hearts supporters last week by admitting he’s one of the worst finishers in training, despite having 24 goals to his name this season.
But Jambos fans are having absolutely none of it after watching him stun Craig Gordon with an ‘unbelievable’ goal in the training ground this week.
Shankland, 28, scored twice against Airdrie in the Scottish Cup last Saturday before revealing his missed chances in practise.
Speaking to BBC Scotland at full-time, he said: “Obviously I’m quite a natural finisher, I’ve had that throughout my career. But we do work on it quite a lot.
“To be honest, I’m probably one of the worst in training most weeks! The boys will tell you that. It seems to be my worst day before a game.
“We obviously practice, but right now it seems like I’m getting all the misses out the way. They keep going in in the games, so I’ll take it!”

The humble striker, who has been heavily linked with a move to Rangers, continues to deliver on the pitch and is the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership with 17 to his name – four ahead of Aberdeen’s Bojan Miovski.
And while he might not hit the same numbers in training, he certainly still has the same confidence in front of goal.
In a video posted by Hearts on social media, the Scotland forward could be seen taking on Gordon in a shooting drill.
He fluffed his first effort by running into the mannequin, but he made up for it wit his next attempt.
The veteran goalkeeper was primed and ready for a shot from Shankland, but he ended up being planted to the spot.
That’s because the 28-year-old caught him off-guard with a cheeky finish.
And fans were blown away by his silky goal, with one joking he is the ‘best since Pele‘.
Another Hearts fan chimed in: “Add an extra million on for that goal alone.”
Someone else wrote: “That is sensational.”
Meanwhile, one Rangers fan said: “Future Rangers Golden Boot winner….”
Others believe Shankland could be the man to lead the line for Scotland at Euro 2024.
And one fan laughed: “Scenes when he does this past Manuel Neuer on the 14th of June.”

Another agreed: “He needs to start for us at the Euros. Can’t wait until he does this against Germany.”
