A fast food fan has shared a hack which he claims promises “hot and fresh” French fries every single time you go to McDonald’s. The fast food lover took to TikTok to share his hack but has caused something of a stir in the comments as not everyone agrees with his method.
TikTok page @healthyjunkfood shares food hacks and reviews, including the tip which is specifically for diners going through the McDonald’s drive-through.
The man behind the TikTok page claims that the tip not only means fries are served “hot and fresh”, but can even add a flavour boost with extra salt.
The man behind @healthyjunkfood explained that the key is to request unsalted fries. This may seem confusing if you want hot and salty fries, but he explains the method behind his idea.
In the video, he said: “Next time you hit up the drive-through ask for a medium fry with no salt.
“We all know they will make it fresh and hot this way, but the new hack is when you roll up to the window and politely ask them for a medium cup and salt packets.”
You will be served freshly made, piping hot fries according to the man. The next step is for you to add the salt to your fries.
“Pour a few salt packets into the cup, dump in your fries and shake them up,” he explained.
“With the residual oil, the salt will stick to the fries nicely giving you hot, fresh salted fries.”
To top it off, the cup of fries will fit perfectly in your car’s cup holder for a snack on the go. He added: “You can also secure the fries in the cup holder in your car. How convenient.”
However, in the comments section of his video, while some people loved the tip, others felt it was unnecessary.
A McDonald’s employee commented on the viral video: “I work at McDonald’s bro, they [are] usually always fresh. I work morning and night.” [SIC]
Another TikTok user commented: “You can also just ask for the fries to be [cooked] to order. They put them down when you order.” [SIC]
It is also worth noting that the TikTok user is American, and what works at a US branch of McDonald’s might not work in the UK.
