South Africans can expect a MASSIVE increase in fuel prices in March.

MASSIVE FUEL PRICE INCREASE EXPECTED IN MARCH

The latest estimate from the Central Energy Fund (CEF) shows that the price of 95 unleaded petrol is due for an increase of R1.36 a litre, while the wholesale price of diesel will increase by between R1.43 and R1.58 a litre.

Illuminating paraffin may be hiked by almost a rand.

The outlook for petrol and diesel prices could still change over the course of the month, as the final prices will only be determined at the end of February.

MasterDrive CEO Eugene Herbert said basic driving adjustments could help with petrol and diesel consumption:

  • Anticipate changes to traffic conditions and minimise unnecessary braking and acceleration.
  • Reducing speed by 20km/h can reduce fuel consumption by 20%.
  • Plan your route and use traffic apps and alerts to avoid traffic jams and congestion.
  • Keep your RPMs around 3 000 as it can also reduce your consumption by 20%.
  • Regular maintenance improves fuel efficiency.
  • Minimum use of the aircon.
