Manjummel Boys’ Producers Booked For Cheating Investors: Reports

The Hindu reported on April 23 that the Ernakulam First Class Magistrate Court has directed the Kerala Police to file a complaint against Parava Films, the producer of the film, and their partner Shawn Antony. The complaint alleges that they failed to share 40% of the profits made from the movie.

A complaint filed by Siraj Valiyathara Hameed alleges that the project’s creators failed to deliver on their promise of profit sharing. Consequently, a court order has frozen the producers’ accounts. The police investigation has identified Shawn Antony as a prime suspect in this case.

According to the police report, Parava Films allegedly promised the complainant 40% of the profits if he invested Rs 22 crores in the film’s production costs. Subsequently, the complainant transferred Rs 5.99 crores to Parava Films’ account and Rs 50 lakhs to Antony’s account.

The First Information Report (FIR) suggests that the complainant also provided them with Rs 51 lakhs in cash over time, totaling Rs 7 crores. However, the filmmakers purportedly failed to reimburse the principal amount and the additional Rs 40 crores in promised profit-sharing, which forms the basis of the alleged cheating case.
