Make peanut butter banana bread in two minutes – no oven required

When that after-dinner craving for something sweet hits, and there’s nothing in your house to eat, it can be a real pain.

The cold and dreary weather is enough to put anybody off going outside, even if it’s in pursuit of a delicious sweet treat.

And while you might have the ingredients at home to bake something delicious, this is often quite a lengthy process, which just won’t do under these conditions.

This is where the humble mug cake comes in really handy – quick, easy and tasty, these are often made with just a few ingredients in a matter of minutes.

And if lockdown awoke in you a love for banana bread that you’ve held on to, then you’ll want to try out this two-minute recipe.

The TikTok account Caught Snackin’, which boasts more than 2.5 million followers, is known for sharing simple yet delicious food hacks for when those hunger cravings hit.

And the page recently featured a recipe for peanut butter banana bread made entirely in the microwave in two minutes, using just a handful of ingredients.

It’s perfect if you’ve got a stray banana at home that’s almost too ripe to eat, and you can also easily customise it with other ingredients you have, such as walnuts or chocolate chips.

Here’s everything you need to make one serving of this delicious dessert.

Method

Mash up the banana and place it in any microwave-safe mug or dish. Add the flour, cinnamon, caster sugar and milk, and give it a good mix to make sure everything is combined.

Then, take the peanut butter and add a spoonful to the top of your mixture. Place it in the microwave for two minutes to cook.

The peanut butter will have melted nicely in the middle of the cake, so serve it immediately, topping with leftover banana slices, ice cream or anything else you fancy.
