Romance is always in the air at Luisa Beccaria, whose love of chiffon, lace and velvet knows no bounds. That romance took on a Victorian — and 1970s — flavor with flowy chiffon dresses in micro flower prints and velvet whipped into everything from jumpsuits to gowns in a palette of jewel tones and powdery pastels.
The backdrop mirrored the mood of the show, with clusters of baby pink roses, purple lilacs and anemones in glass pitchers and jars scattered around the space, vines dangling between the clothes railings, and waiters serving up green juices.
The venue was the new Officine LùBar, part of a rapidly expanding, family-run franchise that already includes two restaurants. Officine LùBar, which has a vast roof garden, is more of an events space, and also serves as the new headquarters of the business.
Beccaria’s hippie models breezed around the space in their sheer, flowery chiffon dresses in eau de nil, blueberry and dusty rose, winding their way around the flower arrangements and mingling with guests.
They wore lilac corduroy trousers, matching sweaters and floppy brimmed hats channeling Carly Simon on the cover of her 1972 album “No Secrets.” Some wore long, double-breasted pastel coats in macaron pastels and 1940s-style peep-toe sandals or cool suede boots.
Others wore lacy blouses, gold brocade coats and velvet devoré dresses, adding a dash of Victoriana and a rich retro sheen to this wild garden of a collection.
