Delhi Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that neither Tihar nor the Central Government was ready to administer insulin to Arvind Kejriwal despite “threat” to his life

Delhi Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj participated in a Hanuman Jayanti Shobha Yatra featuring a man dressed as Lord Hanuman with insulin in both his hands on Tuesday. The gesture appeared to target the Tihar jail administration who refused to administer insulin to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal earlier.

The AAP leader claimed that neither Tihar nor the Central Government was ready to administer insulin to Arvind Kejriwal despite “threat” to his life. He went on to say that Lord Hanuman “removes everyone’s difficulties” just like he once saved Lord Ram’s younger brother, Laxman’s life with ‘Sanjeevani’.

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal was administered low-dose insulin at Tihar jail on Monday night when his blood sugar level spiked to 320 when the ideal range should be between 70 and 100. A diabetic, Kejriwal criticised the Tihar jail administration for allegedly failing to provide him with insulin despite his repeated requests.

However, the jail administration claimed that during a video consultation with specialists from AIIMS, neither the issue of insulin nor its necessity was raised.

A video of the Hanuman Jayanti Shobha Yatra surfaced on the internet which showed AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj in a red kurta and saffron headcloth holding a ‘gada’ (Lord Hanuman’s choice of weapon) and greeting people amid loud music. According to Hindu mythology, the Saffron colour is associated with Lord Hanuman’s gesture of smearing himself with vermillion for Lord Ram’s long life, after he saw Goddess Sita putting it on her forehead for the same purpose.

In the video, a man dressed as Lord Hanuman could be seen right beside the AAP leader with insulin in both his hands.

“Lord Hanuman removes everyone’s difficulties. When Lord Ram faced difficulties, he brought Sanjeevani for him. Arvind Kejriwal is just a devotee, he worships Him. Today, Arvind Kejriwal’s life was under threat. Neither Tihar nor the Central Government was ready to administer him insulin. We had to approach the Court. But today, on Hanuman Jayanti, with the blessings of Lord Hanuman, he has been given insulin. I thank Bajrang Bali from the bottom of my heart…” Saurabh Bharadwaj said.
