The release date for the sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD has been unveiled by its makers after it was previously slated for May 9.
After a lot of waiting, finally, the release date of Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD is out. Featuring, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan in key roles is set to hit the big screens in June this year. On Saturday, the makers of the film took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and revealed the new release date of the film. The sci-fi epic will now be released on June 27.
Sharing the new poster of the movie, he official X account of Kalki 2898 AD announced the release date of the film. The words on the top of the poster read: “27 June 2024.” In the poster, Deepika, Prabhas, and Amitabh appeared together, set against a vast desert-like backdrop. The caption on the post wrote, “All the forces come together for a better tomorrow on —.”

Earlier this month, the makers shared a brand new teaser featuring Amitabh Bachchan. The actor will essay the role of Ashwatthama in Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic. In the teaser, Big B was seen praying in front of a Shiva linga in what seems like a cave. A child asks who is he and he replies, “Since ancient times, I have awaited the arrival of the Avatar. I am Guru Drona’s son. Ashwatthama.” The de-aged appearance he sported in the film gained traction on social media.

Helmed by Nag Ashwin, the movie is a sci-fi drama starring Prabhas, Deepika, Amitabh and Kamal Haasan in the lead roles. Back on Maha Shivaratri, the makers of the film released a new poster, where Prabhas’s character name was revealed to be Bhairava.
During the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon, Nag commented on the film’s title, stating, “The film starts with Mahabharat and ends in 2898 AD. It spans 6000 years in time. We tried to create worlds, imagining what they would be like while still keeping it Indian, and not making it look like Blade Runner.”
