In a tragic development, veteran actress Kasammal tragically lost her life in Tamil Nadu after being fatally assaulted by her son P Namakodi (52). The incident occurred in Anaiyur, close to Usilampatti, in Madurai city.
Allegedly, the altercation between Kasammal and her son, P Namakodi, erupted over a disagreement regarding money for purchasing alcohol. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries immediately after being struck on February 4 at 3:00 am.

Having been estranged from his wife for the past 15 years, Kasammal’s son had been residing with the actress.

However, his ongoing struggle with alcohol addiction resulted in frequent requests for money from his mother.
On the tragic day, Namakodi requested money from his mother for alcohol, but she refused. This refusal allegedly prompted him to fatally strike her. Reports suggest that he used a wooden log to inflict the injuries on Kasammal, as per News18.

Following the incident, the Usilampatti Taluk police intervened and subsequently transported the body of the veteran actress for a post-mortem examination at the government hospital.
According to the report, Namakodi was arrested and subsequently remanded into custody, while the murder weapon was confiscated by the authorities.
Kasammal and her husband, Balasami, have four children together.
On the professional front, Kasammal had appeared in the Tamil film ‘Kadaisi Vivasayi‘ released in 2022. The movie, directed by M Manikandani, featured Nallandi, Vijay Sethupathi, and Yogi Babu in prominent roles. Kasammal portrayed the character of Sethupathi’s mother in the film.
