Jet2 launches holidays to bargain European beach resort you’ve probably never heard of

BULGARIA has long been a popular destination for Scots in search of a good value holiday, with fabulous weather, beautiful beaches and great food.

And now there’s even more choice of resorts to enjoy, after hols giant Jet2 announced new packages to the popular resort of Sozopol on the country’s Black Sea coast.

The UK’s largest tour operator has responded to the demand from travellers flocking to Bulgaria due to its purse-friendly appeal, by putting holidays on sale to the ancient seaside town.

Combining white sand beaches with charming architecture, holidaymakers visiting Sozopol can discover the resort’s Old Town of cobbled streets, terracotta topped houses and distinctive wooden buildings, along with a wide variety of shops, bars and restaurants.

For relaxation, there’s the town’s two beautiful beaches – Central Beach and Harmanite Beach, or the incredible wild beach at Dyuni.

Nature lovers can head to the Ropotamo Nature Reserve or the Blatoto Alepu National Park, while families can enjoy a fun-filled day in the Neptun Aqua Park, a 50,000 sq metre waterpark.

And culture lovers should plan a trip to the town’s Apollonia art and film festival which takes place in early September.

The town also has ancient sites including a temple complex from the late 6th century thought to belong to the famous temple of Apollo and an altar and a temple from the Hellenistic period.

Hotels on offer from Jet2Holidays range from 3* to 4* with a choice of board options including bed and breakfast and all-inclusive and are available to book now for trips from the end of May,
