JCPenney launches new loyalty program to incentivize shoppers

US department store chain JCPenney has launched a new loyalty program to incentivize shoppers.

The new rewards and credit program, part of JCPenney’s 1 billion USD reinvestment plan to improve customer experience and operational efficiencies, offers double the rate at which reward members earn points.

“We want every trip to JCPenney to be worth it. We want it to be easier to take advantage of our rewards, easier to reach rewards milestones, and to make it a sure thing that every member sees rewards each year,” said Katie Mullen, chief customer officer at JCPenney, in a statement.

“Enhancing our Rewards Program is an important piece of how we bring value to our customers, but not the only piece. We’re already known for offering the widest range of accessible fashion across beauty, home, apparel, fine jewelry, salon, and more, and we want to continue to earn the loyalty of America’s diverse working families.”

The new JCPenney rewards and credit program is free to join and guarantees 20 USD in CashPass rewards. Shoppers can stack rewards on top of other coupons and use them towards any purchase. Customers who join the program will earn at least one CashPass point per dollar spent and receive a 10 USD CashPass Reward when they spend 200 USD. Members also receive rewards when joining and on their birthdays.

In addition, members who are also JCPenney credit cardholders save even more and earn CashPass rewards 50 percent faster than before. JCPenney cardholders earn 1.5 CashPass points per dollar spent, receive a 10 USD CashPass Reward when they spend 133 USD, and benefit from an extra 35 percent off their first purchase with their JCPenney Credit Card.

The new program also features additional rewards, such as the opportunity to meet NBA star and JCPenney brand ambassador Shaquille O’Neal.
