Jamie Oliver’s ‘clever’ twist on Christmas pigs in blankets involves figs and cheese

Jamie Oliver has put together eight delicious alternatives to pigs in blankets, which are all ready to eat within half an hour.

The British chef said: “Pigs in blankets are genius, but lots of clever combos, when wrapped in bacon, are equally delicious.”

There are numerous combinations to choose from, from brie-based blankets to fig-inspired nibbles.

Or, if you’re feeling very adventurous, and you have a lot of people coming over for Christmas, you could make them all.

They will be a great topic to talk about over dinner, as people compare which ones were their favourites.

Pick your favourite, or pick them all, as they all require the same cooking method.

Method

1. Lay one rasher of smoked streaky bacon on a board, chop in half so each halve can be a used as a blanket.

2. Place your filling on top, then roll and wrap it up, lining them up in an oiled roasting tray as you go.

3. Cook in a preheated oven at 180°C/350°F/gas four for around 20 minutes, or until golden and cooked through, then serve.
