Its Wonder Woman Vs. Lasso Of Lies In DC’s Comics This Week

DC’s new comics for this week features Wonder Woman dealing with the Lasso of Lies. The titular hero deals with the Sovereign in the issue from Tom King and Daniel Sampere. When the villain can’t seem to keep Wonder Woman in line, they resort to the Lasso of Lies to make her the “perfect housewife”. Elsewhere from the publisher, Batman: Off-World finds the Dark Knight in a fight for his life against a bounty hunter known as Thanagarian. Plus, in this week’s Green Lantern: War Journal John finds a lost crew in need of a hero while his sister learns about her new powers on Earth.

This week’s Wonder Woman #8 finds Diana Prince captured and beaten. Her captor appears to be none other than the Sovereign. They immediately try and get the titular hero “in line” by forcing her to become a perfect (AKA obedient) housewife. This is done by using the Lasso of Liew on Wonder Woman to make her believe that she is happily married to her husband Steven. While the hero resists these lies and brainwashing, she slowly begins to lose her resolve.

This week’s issue comes from writer Tom King and artist Daniel Sampere. They are joined by colorist Tomeu Morey and letterer Clayton Cowles. The main cover, which features a portrait of a crestfallen Wonder Woman, comes from Sampere and Morey. Meanwhile, variant covers feature art from Julian Totino Tedesco, Pablo Villalobos, and Joshua “Sway” Swaby.
