iPhone 16 CAD render shows two new buttons, vertical rear camera design and more

iPhone 16 CAD-based renders

  • The iPhone 16 CAD-based renders, shared by tipster Majin Bu show the phone will have a redesigned camera module, where the sensors will be placed vertically similar to the original iPhone X.
  • This will replace the current diagonal one.
  • The iPhone will continue to have a boxy chassis and rounded edges for better grip on hands.
  • The main highlight of the redesign also includes new buttons, including the new Action button and the rumoured Capture button.
  • The dedicated Capture button placed below the power button will act as a shortcut to capturing videos. While the Action button is similar to the one on the iPhone 15 Pro series.
  • The Capture button could be pressure sensitive and might also allow users to adjust focus and zoom in and out.
  • The new Action switch will replace the Mute button found on previous gen vanilla models. This can be used to do tasks like turn on the flashlight, open the camera or pair with the shortcuts app.

Apple is expected to introduce a Spatial Video recording feature to the base models. At the moment, only the iPhone 15 Pro models can record spatial videos. As said, the iPhone 16 series is expected to debut later this year and might include five models this time around, the iPhone 16 SE, iPhone 16 Plus SE, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The base iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus SE are expected to come with the A18 Bionic chip based on TSMC’s 3nm process.
