Inside the new family attraction inspired by famous royal – with huge play tree, go-karts, and zip lines

A HUGE new family attraction is opening in the UK next month – and parents are raving about it already.

Hockerhill Playbarn was thought up by couple Tessa and Charlie Giffard, who moved from London to Chillington with their three kids.

After realising there was nowhere to go for both kids and adults, they decided to create the new new attraction.

The main feature will be the huge fake oak tree, which was inspired by one used by King Charles II to hide during the Battle of Worchester in 1651.

The centerpiece will also have bridges, slides, walkways and tunnels for kids to explore.

Also onside will be pedal go karts with a winding tarmac track.

And when the weather is better in the UK, the outdoor area will have a playground too, with swings slides and zip lines, as well as a sand pit and area for toddlers.

You won’t need to leave for lunch either – there will be indoor and outdoor dining facilities, serving snacks such as cakes and ice cream as well as hot food such as sourdough pizzas and sandwiches.

Adults can make the most of “craft beer and fine wine” too.

The website states most of the food will be sourced locally, as well as grown at the on-site kitchen garden.

They explain: “Whatever your age, we believe play is essential – it allows you to develop and grow.

“We’re unlocking the gates between learning and play, indoors and outdoors, age and expectation.

“That’s why Hockerhill is built around an immense, open-armed oak tree – to bring the outside in, let what’s inside out, and set imaginations running wild. “

“We’re a wild, open space for children from tinies to tweens to be whoever and however they want to be.

“And we’re for adults too – because you also need time and space to thrive.”

Ticket prices are yet to be revealed, but guests can sign up to be alerted when they go live.

Parents are already excited about the new attraction, raving about the images on social media.

One mum said: “How good does this look!”

Another said: “We have to take the boys!! They would be in their element!”

One even joked: “Never mind my children, I want to play! Looks so good!”

Someone who worked on the project commented on Instagram: “It’s going to be incredible!

“I am part of the surfacing team for the indoor play zone and managed a sneak preview – my twin boys are going to absolutely love it.”

Hockerhill Playbarn will open on the Chillington Estate, less than an hour from Birmingham, on March 11.

When open, it will stay open form 9am to 5:30pm in the week, while shutting at 4pm on Saturdays and Bank Holidays.

Sundays have reduced opening hours from 10am to 4pm.

If you can’t wait, a similar family attraction is Bewilderwood, known for having no technology or rides.

Instead there are huge play structures with slides, storytelling stages, zip lines and den-building.

There are lots of other exciting new attractions and holiday parks set to open in the UK this year as well.

Butlins’ £12million Maple Walk Village will open at the Skegness resort this summer, with 128 lodges.

Another new holiday park opening is Legoland’s Woodland Village, with 10-acres of holiday lodges and camping barrels opening in May.

And a £9billion attraction which opened in the UK in 2022 has been named one of the best to visit in 2024.

Here are some other new openings to be excited about too.
