The fantastical property looks like it’s been plucked out of a child’s imagination, with the building resembling the home of the Once-ler – a Dr Suess villain in The Lorax.

Despite the literary connotations, the owners believe the property has the “feel of a safari lodge on the edge of the savanna.”

According to its listing on Airbnb, The Phoenix Tree has one bathroom, an outdoor shower, and a private hot tub.

The tree-top property overlooks a wildflower meadow, while mountains can also be spotted along the horizon.

As an off-grid treehouse, The Phoneix Tree aims to give guests a “back-to-basics” experience with some of its eco-features like its composting toilet.

Surrounded by woodland, the treehouse doesn’t have any mains electricity or Wi-Fi.

Without an electric hook-up, the building’s lighting is solar-powered.

To access the property’s main bedroom, guests will need to climb up a steel ladder.

The bedroom is kitted out with bamboo bedding, thick natural mattresses, and sheepskin blankets.

A description on the Airbnb listing read: “The cosy bedroom sits on top of an old oak tree, entangled in a mirage of branches where the canopy once stood.

“The structure is a stunning blend of straw bale walls, bamboo rafters, ingenious ironwork, and a bespoke canvas roof with a skylight to the stars.

“A blend of skilled local craftspeople joined forces to create this beautiful rustic space which is now a resident feature on the landscape.”

The kitchen in the treehouse has a gas ring and a stove, and basics like tea, coffee, and oil are also provided.

While there’s also an outdoor BBQ area, the nearest shop is a 10-minute drive away.

The listing added: “We will provide a basket of wood for the fire and some natural firelighters to ensure you stay warm but please do pack for cold weather to ensure you get the most from your nights under canvas.”

There’s also free onsite parking, but the walk to the Phoenix Tree is uphill, so guests are advised to bring appropriate footwear.

The one-bedroom property can sleep up to 2 people, and it costs £140 per night to rent per night.

Guests will need to book a minimum stay of three nights to reserve the property.

The unique holiday home has been praised by holidaymakers in the reviews on Airbnb.

One person wrote: “We had such a beautiful relaxing, inspiring, and cosy stay in this truly magical piece of nature heaven. If this place has been saved in your wishlist, book it.”

Another person added: “The bed is comfy, the wood stove is cosy and the outdoor shower is a treat. We fired up the hot tub and it was worth the wait.

“There’s a short walk to a lovely pub (the Carpenters Arms) and plenty of lovely countryside to explore.”

A third person wrote: “We have just come back from an absolutely fantastic stay at the treehouse. The surroundings are beautiful and the space has lots of privacy.”

Holidaymakers looking for a quirky getaway can also stay in a hotel shaped like a wine bottle.

A hotel shaped like a bum-hole is one of the weirdest places in the world where guests can spend a night.

Named CasAnus, the unusually shaped hotel was created by Dutch artist Joep Van Lieshout in 2007.

A number of hotels in the UK are also out of the ordinary, having been converted from old prison buildings.

HMP Bridwell in Liverpool and Malmaison Hotel in Oxford are now luxurious hotels built into old prison cells.
