This ‘amazing’ hack has become the ultimate travel tip for anyone looking to pack less and only take a carry-on with them while still having stylish clothes available.
The ‘333 method’ was first shared by fashion influencer Rachel Spencer on TikTok, where it became the video-sharing platform’s most trendy traveling trick.
It sees people packing just three tops, three, bottoms, and three pairs of shoes for their trip.
And not only will the packing pointer help jet-setters downsize their amount of luggage, but it will also aid fashionistas in making the most out of their clothes and getting creative when it comes to putting together outfits.

Rachel first brought the trend to life – with many other content creators following suit.
She captioned the viral clip, which has so far amassed more than 83,000 views, ‘Guys did I find the 12-3-30 of getting dressed?’
‘This is what you have to do – three bottoms, I have a skirt, jeans, and a leather pant. Three tops – I have a tank, button up, and a cardigan. And three [pairs of] shoes – for me that’s square-toed boots, sneakers, and flats,’ she explained.
At the end of the video, she showed off the nine outfits she was able to create from her choices.
Following her clip, people on the app added another category to the method: accessories.
NYC-based Ayesha shared her take on the method and how it helped her when it came to packing.
‘I saw a bunch of girls on TikTok do this thing called the 333 method, and I wanted to show you guys my, like, packing strategy,’ she said.
‘It’s essentially, three bottoms, three tops, three [pairs of] shoes. And it’s effectively to show you that you can mix and match anything to create multiple different outfits.

She told the outlet: ‘The 333 rule helps address the fear of overpacking, while also ensuring you look the part.
‘An unexpected benefit is you have an excuse to pick up an item or two on the trip — you packed light after all.’
She added that you should pick articles of clothing that you could dress up and down.
‘Yes, you can dress pieces up, but certain trips might need more formalwear, in which case you may have to break the rules,’ she explained.
‘Using the 333 rule as your basis, you’ll be more conscious overall of how much you pack. Less stuff, less stress, and less unnecessary bag fees paid.’
