I’m a female solo traveller… these are the FIVE places I will never go back to – including a major European capital

A female solo traveller has revealed the destinations she will never visit again, including one major European city.

Taking to TikTok, where she has over 267,000 followers, @andreaboldbodytravels, recvealed the bad experiences she suffered while on holiday.

Introducing the video, she said: ‘If you are a solo travelling woman like me, or if you plan on solo travelling somewhere, I would watch this video for the list of destinations that [you should] never travel to again’.

‘I know this is going to p*** a lot of people off as it has in the past but this video is based on my own personal experience and I just want other woman out there to be safe and for this not to happen to them’.

A female solo traveller has revealed the destinations she will never visit again, including one European city that is a major tourist hotspot

First up on her list was Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, which welcomed over 14million tourists in 2023, according to the country’s tourism board.

Explaining her first choice, Andrea said: ‘It was definitely not safe. My hotel wouldn’t even let me go to the cash point outside.

‘They told me to put more clothes on and not wear a sleeveless top because there were so many men outside and it just wasn’t safe for me to walk alone’.

Moving on to her next choice on the list, this pick may come as a surprise to many given its status as one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

Andrea chose the French capital of Paris because, as she recounts: ‘I was almost mugged twice on the Metro, even though the city has a large police presence.

‘I was also cautioned about pickpockets and advised not to go out alone at night’.

Thirdly, she chose Cartagena in Colombia, which she says she loved even though ‘the men were pretty aggressive’.

She added: ‘The reason why Cartagena is on this list is because I was warned for taking a video out of a taxi by police, as they said it could get snatched away by a local unexpectedly’.

Giving her penultimate city in the places she would not recommend visiting as a female solo traveller, Andrea opted for Caye Caulker in the central American country of Belize.

Explaining why, she stated: ‘The men are very, very aggressive’.

‘So much so that I had to pepper spray a man that was touching me physically in an attempt to get me to enter his restaurant, which he tried multiple times’.

Revealing her final pick, the vlogger said she would never return to San Salvador, the capital city of another central American country, El Salvador.

She said this is because she was ‘almost kidnapped by two men in San Salvador while walking next to some construction workers’.

‘They weren’t gang members but had wired spool in the back of their truck. They pulled up next to me and grabbed me by my arms and attempted to pull me inside the vehicle’.

‘Luckily, people heard me screaming so were able to convince the men to let go of me’.

Responding to her choices in the comments, other users expressed their trepidation about Andrea including Paris.

They commented: ‘Oh no I plan on going to Paris this year. Any tips?’

She replied: ‘Don’t take the subway and be really careful with pickpockets. I saw them in action at the Eiffel Tower’.

Another said: ‘I didn’t even bother using the subway system in Paris, it’s way safer to just take an Uber’.

A further comment read: ‘I was followed in Paris’.

A fourth remarked: ‘I traveled to Paris alone when I was 21, but that was 20 years ago. I felt safe for the most part, but I know things have changed.’
