With a total build-up area of 144,400 square feet, about 68 percent of the area has been allocated for 250 two-wheelers and 200 four-wheeler vehicles

The construction for Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited’s (HMRL) fully automated and computerized 15-floor Multi Level Car Parking (MLP) situated near Nampally Metro station is near completion.

Having said that, the trail runs are likely to begin next month i.e May 2024.

The MLP is the first of its kind in India with a German Palis parking system. It is built on half-an-acre land and comprises 5 commercial floors and 10-parking floors.

With a total build-up area of 144,400 square feet, about 68 percent of the area has been allocated for 250 two-wheelers and 200 four-wheeler vehicles. The remaining 32 per cent has been granted for commercial purposes; for shops and a two-screen cinema hall.

The MLP is being developed by Bhari Infra Pvt Ltd at the cost of Rs 80 crore and with a 50-year concession period under the PPP agreement.

The HMRL, MD, NVS Reddy during a visit to the site on Sunday said, “The project suffered delays due to Covid-19, debt financing problems, global supply chain disruptions, etc. Now, all the imported materials have arrived and are being fixed as a jigsaw puzzle by the experts,” as quoted by Telangana Today.

Talking about the ultramodern MLP, it operates on state-of-the-art parking technology and comprises four In and Out (I/O) terminals on the ground floor with turn tables installed. Upon arriving there, the drivers will be provided a smart card, while the regular users will be issued permanent RFID cards.

After being directed to the designated I/O terminal, users can simply use the smartcard feature to unlock the terminal gate and can leave their cars on the turntable.

The technology being used at the new MLP can automatically detect whether the vehicle is an SUV or a sedan, based on the vehicle’s dimensions. A transporter shuttle will take the vehicle to the allocated spot via a lift.

NV Reddy also said that, unlike Delhi, Mumbai, etc. the turn tables installed in the new MLP in Hyderabad are huge enough for any vehicle to be left on it.

In order to retrieve the vehicle, the users/drivers need to pay the parking fees and show the ticket to the card reader. Once done, the transporter shuttle will bring the vehicle back from its allocated place and it will be delivered in such a manner which would not require reversal for driving out.
