Shantalina Blake went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI for 10th-seeded Phillipsburg in its 19-10 win over 19th-seeded Belvidere in the first round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament in Phillipsburg.
Riley Santos finished 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI for Phillipsburg, which exploded for 12 runs in the sixth inning after trailing 2-0. Sara Segeda finished 3-for-3 in the victory while Ava Colontrelle was 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI.
Phillipsburg will play at seventh-seeded Delaware Valley in the second round.
11-Hackettstown 11, 18-Kittatinny 1
Makayla Benbow went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and two RBI for 11th-seeded Hackettstown in is 11-1 win over 18th-seeded Kittatinny in Hackettstown.
Jillian Mailloux also went deep and finished 3-for-3 with four RBI. Mailloux also did not allow an earned run on two hits in five innings.
Hackettstown will play at sixth-seeded Warren Hills in the second round.
12-Voorhees 6, 17-Hopatcong 2
Avalyn Stayskal went 3-for-4 with two RBI for 12th-seeded Voorhees in its 6-2 win over 17th-seeded Hopatcong in Glen Gardner.
Susan Hockenbury finished 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI for Voorhees, which scored two runs in the third and another in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead. Christina Sullivan was 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored in the victory. Ava Zielinskie pitched a five-hitter with no earned runs allowed in the circle.
Rhianna Melendez was 2-for-4 with a RBI for Hopatcong. Voorhees will play at fifth-seeded North Warren in the second round.
