It can be difficult to decide what to make for dinner, but you cannot go wrong with a big bowl of delicious pasta topped with cheese.

Jamie Oliver’s tuna pasta recipe is super easy to make as it only takes 20 minutes to cook from scratch.

While many recipes have a complicated list of ingredients which can force you to take a trip to the shops, this simple meal has been designed to use up any tins in your kitchen.

Jamie said: “A delicious family meal that’s easy to put together and makes the most of store-cupboard heroes. Double batch the sauce to stash in the freezer for future meals. ”

This tasty dinner is perfect for when you want something affordable and quick to eat while also being homecooked and incredibly flavourful.

Method

Chop the leek in half, wash it and then finely slice the white part of the leek, then peel and slice the garlic.

Place a large frying pan on a medium heat and add half a teaspoon of olive oil. Add the leek and garlic, then cook for five minutes until the vegetables have softened.

Place the plum tomatoes in a bowl and break apart with a wooden spoon. Fill the tin the tuna came in a quarter-full with water and pour it into the bowl, then place the mixture in the pan.

Drain and add the tuna to the pan, then season with salt and pepper. Bring the sauce to a boil and then turn the heat down and leave on a simmer, making sure to stir regularly.

Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water, making sure to follow the packet instructions. Then drain and reserve a mugful of the starchy cooking water.

Add the pasta to the sauce and pour in a little of the reserved pasta water, then stir well over the heat.

Use tongs to divide the pasta into bowls, then grate the parmesan cheese on top and your tasty tuna pasta is ready to serve.
