Whether they are scrambled, poached or fried, eggs are a staple part of a healthy and nutritious diet.
Although they’re incredibly versatile, they can be a hassle to make, with many people admitting they even struggle to perfect the humble fried egg – me included.
When frying an egg usually I always seem to find that the egg runs all over the pan instead of staying in a nice compact shape or the yolk ends up getting broken.
But instead of using the frying pan, there seems to be a very simple way to cook an absolutely excellent fried egg – and it’s an even healthier version.
TikTok user @lubnashomekitchen shared her method with online fans, revealing that she now uses her air fryer to make the process as effortless as possible.
In the video, Lubna places two small square sheets of tin foil into the air fryer basket, spraying a little olive oil to stop sticking. She then cracks two eggs on top and sprays them with olive oil and chilli flakes before closing the air fryer and setting the timer to three minutes at 160 degrees.
Once the three minutes were up, she opened the air fryer and took out two perfectly air-fried eggs.
Venturing to the comments section, I was curious as to whether others had found success with this hack. One user said: “This might’ve changed my life.”
However, one follower claimed that this hack “didn’t work” for the amount of time that it was suggested to cook the egg.
Lubna claimed that the reason for this could’ve been that the eggs were taken straight from the fridge and not left at room temperature before cooking.
Curious to see what this hack was like, I decided to test it out for myself.
All you need for this tip is an egg at room temperature, some tin foil, and oil – preferably in a spray bottle.
I started by breaking off some tin foil and moulding it into a basket shape so that the egg would sit comfortably without spilling over the edges.
I then sprayed the foil with some olive oil and cracked the egg onto it, seasoning it with salt and pepper.
I left the eggs to cook for three minutes at 160 degrees, as the TikToker instructed.
The egg came out beautifully cooked – the yolk was still runny and the whites were firm.
I’m definitely going to be ditching the frying pan when making fried eggs from now on because I think this is probably the best fried egg I’ve ever made before.
