There is nothing better than a homebaked cake to treat yourself, and Mary Berry has shared the baking technique to make the perfect lemon drizzle traybake.
Lemon drizzle cake is incredibly easy to make as this recipe takes less than 10 minutes to prepare before placing it to bake in the oven for 35 minutes.
However, Mary Berry has explained that the secret to making this tasty traybake is to immediately pour the lemon glaze over it as soon as it comes out of the oven.
She said: “It’s important to spoon the glaze on the cake while it’s still warm so the lemon juice soaks in properly.”
While some recipes can be complicated with a long list of instructions, Mary Berry has created this fun traybake to be foolproof so you can quickly make something delicious with hardly any effort.

Instructions
To begin, preheat the oven to 180C (160C Fan or Gas Mark 4) and then line the cake tin with baking paper.
Place the cake ingredients in a large mixing bowl and beat until fully blended until you have a fluffy mixture.
Pour the mixture into the prepared cake tin and bake in the preheated oven for around 35 to 40 minutes.
While the cake is baking, make the lemon glaze. Mix the lemon juice and sugar together in a bowl until you have a runny consistency.
As soon as the traybake comes out of the oven, pour the lemon and sugar glaze all over the surface of the cake, spreading it all over the surface.
Then, leave the cake to rest in the cake tin to set. Once cool, your tasty lemon squares area ready to serve and be cut into pieces.
