Andrew Montgomery was living with his mum in supported accommodation when he tragically passed away in his sleep.

The Glasgow gran called for help when she noticed Andrew had gone extremely cold on January 11.

The 26-year-old from Dennistoun is believed by doctors to have died of a previously undiagnosed condition.

Andrew’s niece, Courtney Montgomery, set-up a GoFundMe page to help pay for Andrew’s funeral.

The 24-year-old claimed the last four years have been “torture” for her granny as she has now had to bury three of her children.

Her dad, Alan, lost his life to organ failure at the age of 40 in 2019. Tragically, eight weeks later, Courtney’s mum died.

The following year, her uncle Steven Wilson lost his life when he was 20.

Courtney told Glasgow Live: “He passed in his sleep next to his mum.

“She woke up and felt his hands. They were cold so she went to get a blanket, then she felt his head and started screaming.

“I found out through a family member and I was distraught.

I couldn’t believe a third brother in the past four years had died.

“My dad died at the tail-end of 2019 and my other uncle died a year later, during Covid – he was only 20.

“I’m still in disbelief. My gran is just numb and heartbroken. She is housebound so it is hard for her to escape it but she is keeping strong.”

She added: “He was a big teddy bear. Losing so many people becomes numbing. When I lost my dad, I lost my mum eight weeks later.

“It’s heartbreaking but I need to stay strong for the rest of the family. The last four years have been challenging, but we have had to come together as a family.

“That’s where my uncle will be missed. He helped me through a lot of grieving, he was there to look after me.

“I can’t look at pictures of him because I break down. I can’t even begin to think that he’s not walking the earth anymore.

“There is now a constant fear that someone may die again.”
