THE HEARTBROKEN dad of a Canadian woman allegedly murdered in Shetland revealed her death is the second family tragedy in five years.
Claire Leveque, 24, was pronounced dead at a property in Sandness following an alleged disturbance on Sunday, February 11.
A 39-year-old man was rushed to hospital and was later arrested and charged over her alleged murder.
Aren Pearson made no plea when he appeared at Lerwick Sheriff Court last week.
Neighbours say Claire, a Canadian native, had only been living on the island for a matter of months before her death.
Her dad Clint Leveque, 49, who lives in Manitoba, Canada, revealed it is the second family tragedy in a space of a few years, the Press and Journal reported.
His wife Kathy died of cancer at the age of 47 five years ago.
Clint plans to scatter Claire’s ashes in the same place he scattered Kathy’s.
He told the Press and Journal: “I want her to be with her mum.
“I want Scotland to cremate my daughter and send her ashes to me.

“I don’t want her body to be sent on a boat or a plane.”
Clint has also been left unable to work due to the emotional impact of his daughter’s death.
But has said his partner Jenny Armstrong has been “so loving and supportive” during the difficult time.
Earlier this week, Clint paid a touching tribute to Claire.
He told CBC News: “This is terrible. There’s no words to describe the whole situation.
“She was so friendly to everyone she met. I just want justice.
“[She enjoyed] being happy and doing things that she loved doing and being with people.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police were called around 4.55pm to the Sandness area of Shetland following a report of a disturbance and the 24-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A 39-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection and was due to appear at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Thursday, February 15, 2024.”
