Head-spinning views! Four-bed Art Deco-style home with revolving roof pod overlooking the Cornish coast hits the market for £1.45m

A stunning Art Deco-style home overlooking the Cornish coast has gone on the market and could be yours for £1.45m.

The house, called Spinnakers, sits in an elevated position on a hill in Marazion, Cornwall, overlooking St Michael’s Mount.

It has stunning views of the island and castle from the roof terrace and even has a spinning pod worth that provides panoramic views of the coast.

The clever design means almost every room in the house has views of Mounts Bay.

The property was designed by award-winning architect Barrie Briscoe in 2004 and it was bought by the current owners in 2018.

The top floor has an open plan kitchen/dining room, separate living room, an office and bathroom.

The roof terrace can be accessed from the top floor and comes with a spinning pod and pool table.

The pod can ‘comfortably’ seat up to seven guests and spins to move into ‘the sun, shade or out of the wind’.

On the ground floor there are three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a utility room.

The lower ground floor is set out as a self-contained annexe which could be used as a holiday let or as a granny flat.

The annexe has a bedroom, bathroom and a kitchen/living room.

The million pound property has landscaped gardens to the side and rear, a pond, and parking for at least three cars as well as a garage.

Jason Fletcher, from Rohrs & Rowe, who are selling the property, said: ‘Spinnakers is a very unique Art Deco style house with probably the best views of St Michael’s Mount, particularly from the roof terrace.

‘There are other properties on the hill but not as elevated as this. It’s three storeys with the roof terrace and the views go all across Mounts Bay and towards the Lizard Peninsula, it’s a real landmark home.

‘You have the pod on the roof so you can still enjoy the views even when it gets chilly in the evenings or in winter. And there’s a very different pool with a view, with a pool table on the roof terrace.

‘Throughout the living accommodation on the upper floors you have bay windows and there are great views from there too.’

St Michael’s Mount is a tidal island, linked to the town of Marazion by a causeway of granite setts that is only passable at low tide.

The popular tourist attraction is managed by the National Trust, and the medieval castle and chapel have been the home of the St Aubyn family since around 1650.

It has been used as a film location multiple times, including the 1979 film Dracula, 2003’s Johnny English and in 2021 for the Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon.
