Half of Brits insist on packing tea bags when going on holiday | Travel News | Travel

The travel company TUI has shared the creature comforts that UK tourists insist on packing before their break away.

Whilst different holiday destinations require visitors to pack a diverse range of items, the study of 2,000 tourists found that many will always take the same items with them, wherever they go.

Philip Iveson, Commercial Director of TUI, noted that the company is increasing the amount of luggage allowance for customers to help tourists looking to bring some additional reminders of home on holiday.

He explained: “This research shows just how much Brits love to take home comforts on holiday with them. That’s why we’ve decided to increase our luggage allowance for TUI Airways to 20kg as standard and add an extra 5kg for guests staying at TUI Blue, Holiday Village, and A La Carte hotels.

“With all that extra weight to play around with, guests will have plenty of room to take along photos of their pets, a hearty number of teabags, and even a loaf or two of sliced bread.”

TUI’s study found that 49 percent of tourists claim to pack some tea bags in their luggage for holidays abroad.

Whilst many resorts and hotels offer plenty in the way of drinks, it seems that many holidaymakers insist on having authentic tea from their favourite brand.

Similarly, 38 percent of travellers state that they always take a jar of coffee with them to ensure they can have a cup from the comfort of their room when they wake up.

Comfort certainly played a significant role in helping tourists decide what to bring on holiday, with 34 percent admitting to taking slippers.

In addition, 22 percent of holidaymakers insist on bringing their own pillow in order to get a decent night’s sleep, even if it does take up considerable space in their suitcase.

However, perhaps one of the strangest things that seven percent claim to bring along is a kettle which, whilst allowing tourists to have a hot drink wherever they go, adds around 1kg to the overall weight.
