  • The Google Pixel 8a is priced at Rs 52,999 for the base model with 128GB storage. It comes in a 256GB variant as well, and this one’s priced at Rs 59,999. 
  • Pre-orders for the Google Pixel 8a start today on Flipkart, and its sale is scheduled to take place on May 14th at 6:30 am. 
  • Google is offering a bank offer of Rs 4,000 and no-cost EMI options with select bank cards on the Pixel 8a. You can also exchange an old phone and get up to Rs 9,000 off. 
  • The Pixel Buds A-Series will be available at Rs 999 on purchasing the Pixel 8a during the pre-order period.
  • You can get the Pixel 8a in four colour options: Obsidian, Porcelain, Bay, and Aloe. The handset has a matte composite back with a matte aluminium frame and fingerprint-resistant coating.
  • Google says the Pixel 8a has been made with at least 24 percent recycled materials, while the housing and camera bar are made with 100 percent recycled aluminum.

Google Pixel 8a features a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1400 nits HDR brightness, 2000 nits peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. The smartphone is powered by the Google Tensor G3 chipset aided by the Titan M2 security coprocessor. It comes with 8GB LPDDR5x RAM paired with 128GB and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.

In the photography department, the Pixel 8a sports a 64MP wide camera with up to 8x Super Res Zoom Optical and Electronic Image Stabilisation. This is accompanied by a 13MP ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view. For selfies, there’s a 13MP ultra-wide camera up front. This is the same camera setup as the Pixel 7a but Google has added its popular AI features including Magic Editor, Best Take, and Audio Magic Eraser. There’s an Ultra HDR mode on the Pixel 8a that’s missing on the Pixel 7a. 

The new Pixel phone packs a 4,492mAh battery with fast charging and wireless Qi charging support. Google claims the phone can last over 24 hours and up to 72 hours with Extreme Battery Saver. It also comes with an under-display fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi 6, and ISRO’s NavIC GPS. You also get an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. 

On the software front, the Pixel 8a runs Android 14 out of the box. It will receive 7 years of OS, security, and Feature Drop updates. Pixel 8a users will also get VPN by Google One for free, anti-malware and anti-phishing protection, including support for passkey. 

Google Pixel 8a alternatives

The Pixel 8a may be an affordable version of the flagship Pixel 8 phones but it is pricier than its predecessor. The smartphone will be facing some tough competition in the same price range. Some of these include the iQOO 12, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered flagship priced at Rs 52,999.
