Europe’s cheapest city break is known as the ‘Little Paris of the East’ | Travel News | Travel

‌With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, there’s no better time to plan a romantic European getaway.

The team at Wizz Air have recommended an affordable European city for any tourists looking to get away on a cheap flight.

Bucharest, the capital city of Romania, is often known as the “Little Paris of the East” as its architecture has a distinctly French influence.

A Wizz Air spokesperson said: “While Romania may seem unassuming as a romantic holiday destination, Bucharest offers much more than meets the eye.

“Visit the picturesque Suter Palace to admire the stunning architecture with your partner. Want to treat your Valentine’s to a spa day?

“You can’t miss out on Bucharest’s spas, the epitome of affordable luxury. Couples can visit the infamous Therme Spa.”

The Therme Spa in Bucharest has saunas, mineral pools and waterslides as well as an indoor botanical garden.

The city’s Old Town is attractive with plenty of bars, restaurants and cafes to hop between on a romantic break.

Bucharest’s top-rated attraction on Tripadvisor is the Stavropoleos Monastery, which was built in 1724.

A tourist ‘Marjaanal’ wrote on the review platform: “Really beautiful place. Small but beautiful. Church is small, but stunning.”

Don’t leave Bucharest without trying a local delicacy such as stuffed cabbage rolls or Romanian sausage.
