It’s a difficult choice that Vikrant decided to make where chose a path of thorns and difficulty rather than the path of roses. It is never an easy start for a struggling actor to kick off in style, especially after appearing in television serials for more than 13 years. However, luck decided to favour Vikrant and he made his debut appearance in a Hindi film with Vikramaditya Motwane’s Lootera. Although it wasn’t the film that Vikrant might have expected still he went on to take the role of a supporting actor starring beside big names in the industry like Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha. Since then Massey has chosen the path of prioritising roles over films.

Earlier in an interview Vikrant Massey recalled that he had to drop a paycheck worth Rs 35 lakh to start a new career in the film industry. It is difficult to realise that the reactor had made himself a name in the television market, leaving it was indeed a difficult choice for the actor to make. Vikrant said, “I earned a lot of money when working in TV. I bought my first home at 24, I was earning 35 lakh per month. It was a lot for someone from a family like mine where we struggled to make ends meet. After I bought the home, paid off debts, gave my parents a better life, I still couldn’t sleep peacefully. I quit at that stage because good work felt more important. All my savings were exhausted and Sheetal (Vikrant’s wife) would lend me money to attend auditions (sic).”

After Appearing on Lootere, Vikrant appeared on Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do, it was evident that Massey couldn’t get the role he desired and settled down for what he got to appear on the big screens. However, his performance in the film brought attention to his work in the film industry which further solidified his presence among the renowned names in Bollywood. The breakthrough moment came when the actor got featured in Konkana Sen Sharma’s A Death in the Gunj. Vikrant’s career from a television star to a full-fledged actor began turning the attention of the audience and since then the actor has been approached for multiple projects.

After appearing in multiple Bollywood films like Deepika Padukone’s Chappak, Haseen Dillruba, Ginny Weds Sunny, Switchh, 14 Phere Gaslight. Vikrant Massey went on to feature in the biopic film of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Jha which was filmed 12th Fail. It was then Massey’s film went on to conquer the box office collection competing with with one of the versatile actors in Bollywood Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 starring alongside Pankaj Tripathi.

It was evident that 12th Fail had a slow start at the box office since Massey’s character in the biopic was so impactful that it made the audience reach the theaters to watch his film. Since the film was based on struggles and hardships, the masses were able to connect to Vikrant Massey’s portrayal of the upcoming IPS officer Manoj Kumar Jha. It was learned that after 12 Fail, Vikrant Massey had indeed made a name in the field of cinema, the Massey went on to win an award for his immense acting in the biopic.
