Hyderabad: Vijay Deverakonda fans and the actor’s manager recently lodged a complaint at the Cyberabad Police in Madhapur, Hyderabad after Deverakonda was being trolled for his upcoming film, The Family Star. The complaint was filed on April 7, 2024. It is important to note that Vijay’s film was released on April 5, and two days after its release, the film saw negative campaigns being held against the actor which impacted the box office collection. Vijay Deverakonda’s Team Lodges Complaint To Cyber Crime Branch
It is interesting to note that the film, ahead of its release had been falling much criticism, especially the role Vijay Deverakonda plays in ‘The Family Star’, the film also portrays Mrunal Thakur in the lead role. Two days after its release, an official complaint was lodged with the cyber crime department. The complaint claimed that there had been negative information that spread to degrade the image of the actor, which affected the box office collection of the film. The Cyber was quick to respond as soon as the complaint was launched, the cyber police branch was able to track a number of fake accounts that had been running negative campaigns against Vijay Deverakonda and his film.
Taking to X/Twitter a user wrote, “Cyber Crime Complaint lodged against individuals who are part of orchestrated attacks and planned negative campaigns targeting The #FamilyStar movie and actor #VijayDeverakonda. The police officials started taking action already and are tracing the fake IDs and users and assured due course. @CyberCrimeshyd #TheFamilyStar (sic).”

It is worth noting that it was not just Vijay Deverakonda who was being targeted. Earlier, Bollywood actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Deepika Padukone’s film were also under the radar of degrading and criticising the film. Down south, Vishwak Sen was also a victim of the negative campaign for his film Gaami.

The Family Star is directed by Parasuram Petla, who earlier collaborated with Vijay Deverakonda for the 2018 film Geetha Govindham. In The Family Star, Vijay appears to play the role of a middle-class man who then meets Indu, played by Mrunal Thakur who later on becomes the ‘the star of the family’.
