Kolkata: West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has sought a report from the state Chief Secretary on preparedness on January 22, the day of “pran pratishtha” in Ayodhya temple will take place. Meanwhile, the Chief Justice’s bench of Calcutta High Court has dismissed Leader of Opposition in state assembly Suvendu Adhikari’s plea on changing the date of the “harmony procession” announced by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the same date.

Bose has sent a letter to Chief Secretary B P Gopalika seeking information on preparedness ahead of Ram Mandir consecration ceremony and law and order situation in the state, Raj Bhawan sources told ET.

On January 22, Trinamool Supremo Mamata Banerjee called “Harmony Procession” while BJP has also called several rallies to celebrate the consecration ceremony of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court dismissed a plea filed by LoP Adhikari on Wednesday, praying to the high court to defer the date of the harmony procession called by Banerjee as it was coinciding with January 22.

A division bench of Chief Justice TS Sivagnanam and Hiranmay Bhattacharya heard the case and observed that the roads should not be obstructed on the day of the harmony rally.

The State Advocate General on behalf of the state government said that the rally will follow a well demarcated route and every party has the right to choose their own preference of route.“When the Calcutta High Court is giving permission for the harmony rally, why Governor Bose is sending a letter to the administration on behalf of the BJP,” Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh raised a question.Ghosh said, “Mamata Banerjee has called the ‘harmony procession’ on January 22 keeping in tune with January 23 Netaji Subhas Chandra’s birth anniversary and Republic Day on January 26. The court has given a big slap on BJP.”

Sukanta Majumdar, BJP state President, said, “Banerjee had to call the rally on the same day when people of the country will be celebrating Ram Mandir “pran pratishtha.”
