Nestled on the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast is the town of Tenby, described by Visit Wales as “one of Wales’ top seaside towns”. Set to the backdrop of a white sand beach and beautiful blue waters, perhaps one of the most well-known features of the seaside town is its beautiful multi-coloured houses.
The pastel-hued buildings are lined along the cliff tops towering over the beach, each looking out to sea views.
In the summer months, the beach becomes a honey pot for tourists, home to all of the typical seaside attributes you might expect: seagulls, colourful sticks of rock, fish and chips, a busy sandy beach and views of boats bobbing through the harbour.
Tenby Harbour is the main event in the town and is the spot you’ll recognise most from photographs and postcards. This is where you’ll find the candy-coloured Victorian houses.
This is the perfect spot to enjoy a spot of fishing, take a boat trip out to the nearby Caldey Island or simply relax on the sandy beach.
Tenby Harbour Beach is slap bang in the centre of the coastline, with plenty of pubs, restaurants, fish and chip shops and cafés nearby.
In the winter it’s a hub of sunbathers and sandcastle builders, but in the winter, the beach is open for dog-walkers.
Tenby has three beaches, the small Castle Beach and the larger North Beach. Both beaches are sandy and popular with families throughout the year. South Beach is the largest of the seaside town’s beaches.
Just 20 minutes away by boat is Caldey Island, a calming oasis with its own tiny beach.
The island is owned and run by a community of Cistercian monks, it’s open to the public on summer weekdays and Saturdays. Regular boat trips set off from Tenby Harbour.
If you want to get active, Tenby has wonderful coastal walks right on the doorstep. One of the most popular of these is the Pembrokeshire Coast Path which stretches 4.5 miles.
Walkers can expect some stunning views from the headland at Monkstone Point.
