It comes after we told of one chip shop sticking sprouts in the fryer and another doing the same with mince pies.

The battered pudding went on the menu at the start of the month at Longs Fish and Chip store in Bridport, Dorset.

Boss Susan Rattenbury told The Sun: “It’s meant to be an eye-opener to get people talking and get people to come into the shop.

“About five or six customers have come in and ordered it so far out of curiosity, but anyone who has tried it has enjoyed it.

“It’s obviously quite a rich pudding so we haven’t had anyone come back for a second helping yet.

“Maybe it’s one of those things it’s best to have once.

“Before it went on the menu, all of us had a taste and it was very good — although most things taste better when they’re deep fried.

“We’re always open to trying new things, especially if it gets customers visiting the shop.”
