CELTIC have been linked with a player who is ranked as one of best in Europe for his age and position.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, 24, has been tipped with a move to Parkhead in recent months as he looked set to cut ties with the La Liga giants.
The Ukraine international, who has been capped nine times at senior level, is on Brendan Rodgers’ radar, according to multiple reports this season.
The goalkeeper has been eyed as a long-term replacement for experienced stopper Joe Hart this season, but talk over a proposed swoop has since cooled in recent weeks.
That’s because the goalie has established himself as Carlo Ancelotti’s first choice between the sticks following Thibaut Courtois’s long-term injury setback.
The Belgian No1 hasn’t played a game all season since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in August and has yet to return to the pitch.
Lunin has been battling with Kepa Arrizabalaga for the starting spot in Courtois’ absence and has since impressed in the first team.
He was expected to leave the club in January but Real Madrid are now keen to hold onto him until the end of the season at least.
And it’s not hard to see why as he’s regarded one of the best performing stoppers in Europe so far this campaign.
That’s according to data conducted by the CIES Football Observatory – who claim he is the second BEST goalkeeper playing in Europe’s top eight leagues and under the age of 25.
Data shows the Ukranian is second behind Benfica stopper Anatoliy Trubin in terms of highest percentage of saves.
Trubin comes out on top with a percentage of 86 while Lunin follows closely behind on 83 per cent.
The Ukranian is ahead of PSG No1 Gianluigi Donnarumma, who has recorded 80 per cent in total.
Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi comes in fourth with 79 per cent, while Nice‘s Marcin Bulka is level with him to make up the top five.
