Carolina Herrera, Net-a-porter Team for Cabana Capsule

Carolina Herrera and Net-a-porter are releasing on Monday an exclusive, essential spring- and summer-minded Cabana capsule of 17 ready-to-wear fashions.

“The inspiration for this capsule started with the idea of a summer trip to the Côte d’Azur — languid days of warm sun, blooming flowers and romantic nights. I created this capsule to serve as a celebration of the pleasures in life,” Carolina Herrera creative director Wes Gordon told WWD.

The capsule, priced $990 to $5,500, includes Herrera signatures — think crisp white cotton separates, bold striped wardrobing and painterly floral frocks designed from day to night, or “lunches on the beach to intimate dinners,” Gordon said. For instance, a ruffled, romantic yellow floral dress; a striped, ruched number with matching 3D floral appliqué; summer hats, or myriad dresses and separates adorned with tulips and lily of the valley sprigs in optimistic hues.

To further emphasize Herrera and Net-a-porter’s shared approach to fashion and wardrobing, the Cabana capsule features Princess Olympia of Greece as its campaign face.

“I’ve known Olympia forever — she is a personal friend and a friend of the house. I’ve dressed her many times and with her natural style, she always looks gorgeous. Her effortless approach to dressing inherently speaks to Herrera and Net-a-porter, so when discussing who could model this collection, I knew it had to be Olympia,” Gordon said.

Prior to the exclusive Cabana capsule, he noted the brand has had previous exclusive launches with Net-a-porter, such as styles designed for Ramadan holidays. But Cabana marks the duo’s first partnership on an exclusive wardrobe capsule.

“Net-a-porter is an amazing partner of Herrera and their client is a perpetual muse of mine as a designer. Cabana celebrates the dawn of summer in a ‘see now, buy now’ capacity — a concept that resonates perfectly with the NAP client. Alison Loehnis [NAP’s interim chief executive officer] is a good friend and a brilliant business mind; she thinks outside of the box and is always inventing ways for NAP to differentiate itself. It has been great working with Alison and her team to understand the needs of the Herrera client at Net-a-porter and how our pieces resonate — from effortless day dresses to glamorous eveningwear. The opportunity to further our success together is tremendously exciting,” Gordon said of the long-standing business partnership.
