As a result, experts have looked at some of the best places to visit with eye-opening and jaw-dropping sights.

And they found that Coral Beach, on the Isle of Skye, ranked the second-highest for people looking to see something special.

To compile the list, experts at The Times Travel looked for “places that fly high when it comes to beauty”.

They added: “There is nothing to drag you away from the hum-drum of the everyday grind like fixing your gaze on a gorgeous vista”.

And they found that Coral Beach just narrowly missed the top spot globally for being one of the most stunning places to visit.

It was singled out for having “alabaster white sands” and “crystal clear waters” all year round.

It was also praised for its beautiful views of Loch Dunvegan “and beyond” that visitors can enjoy while taking a stroll on the beach.

Describing the area, experts said: “A Caribbean-esque beach on Scottish shores?

“The alabaster white sands at Coral Beach, just north of Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye’s north coast, promise just that.

“From the nearby crofting village of Claigan, it’s a 25-minute stroll on foot to reach the bay — and it’s worth the shoe leather.

“Even in peak season, Coral Beach can feel like your own.

“The sands are so white that the sea looks azure blue by contrast on a hot day and it’s great for a swim too.

“Pack your nerve; the crystal clear waters are bracing at any time of year.

“On the horizon, there’s spirit-lifting views of Loch Dunvegan and beyond.”

Experts decided to give the top spot to Sequoia National Park, in California, US.

They added that the “mind-boggling 328,000-acre chunk of inland” has “stretch-to-the-heavens trees”.
