A beautiful city in Africa is among the top places to travel to and is 29C in February. Cape Town is the capital city of South Africa, known for its round harbour and landmarks. It has been named the best place to visit by the New York Times and the Telegraph.

It is the country’s second-largest city after Johannesburg and sits on the south coast of the continent of Africa, overlooking the South Atlantic Ocean.

The city has an average maximum temperature in January and February of 29C and a minimum of 17C.

February is the hottest month of the year as well as the least humid and one of the driest months, with up to 10 hours of sunshine a day.

Cape Town has six main attractions: Table Mountain, Cape Point, Groot Constantia vineyard, Robben Island, Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden and the Victoria and Albert Waterfront.

Table Mountain, likely the most popular sight, sits in a national park overlooking the city with visitors hiking to the top or taking the cableway. It features a level plateau with steep cliffs around it.

Cape Point sits on the edge of the national park, topped with a lighthouse built in the mid-1800s. The park is home to wildlife such as penguins, baboons, seals and birds.

But the city isn’t all wildlife and hikes, there are also lots of streets to explore with independent shops, award-winning restaurants and a number of museums and galleries.

Conde Nast Traveller said of the city: “If cities were romances, Cape Town would be the love-at-first-sight kind.

“There’s plenty to pull you in long after landing, from its chic hotels, world-class restaurants, and thriving art scene, to its dazzling cultural diversity and rich, if complex, history.

“Each day in the Mother City will see you unearthing new details that will have you falling in love all over again.”

There is lots of accommodation on offer in the city with hotels, Airbnbs, hostels, holiday lets and more available to stay in.

Those wishing to visit can take the direct 11-hour flight from London to Cape Town. There are indirect flights from Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh.
