Cadbury owner Mondelez eyes bid for rival chocolate maker Hershey’s

The owner of Cadbury is said to be eyeing rival chocolate maker Hershey’s.

If Mondelez’s move succeeds, it would create one of the world’s largest confectioners and bring favourites such as Dairy Milk and Reese’s Pieces together.

Hershey’s shares soared more than 13 per cent in New York to give it value of £30billion.

But Mondelez, which is valued at £65billion, drifted lower. Mondelez has made a preliminary approach about a possible combination, according to Bloomberg.

The report said deliberations were in the early stages and there was no certainty that discussions would lead to a deal.

Mondelez also tried buying The Hershey Company in 2016, but its £18billion bid failed.
