SCOTS flyers will be able to jet off to one of the most popular destinations in the USA from next summer.
JetBlue will launch direct flights from Edinburgh to the gorgeous east coast city of Boston.
It is the second direct flight from the airline, after they launched a direct service to Edinburgh to New York in May.
The Boston route will operate from Edinburgh from May 23 to October 25, flying daily on an A321neo.
Boston is just a seven hour flight from the capital and perfect for a long weekend away or even better as a starting point to a tour around America’s iconic New England region.
It comes as America celebrates 250 years of Independence in 2025, with huge celebrations planned across the nation – but particularly in Boston where the rebellion against British rule started with the Boston Tea Party.
The state of Massachusetts, the birthplace of America Liberty, will commemorate the many battles fought by patriots.
It comes as the airline also extends its Edinburgh to New York JFK service for next year from May 9 to October 25, after this summer‘s success.
Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport said: “This is a bit of an early Christmas present as JetBlue add a second destination from Edinburgh Airport, providing even more connections between Scotland and the USA.
“The success of JetBlue’s Edinburgh to New York JFK route has demonstrated to the airline the clear demand for transatlantic travel from Scotland’s busiest airport.
“We are delighted to see them add Boston to their schedule as well as extend that hugely successful JFK service.
“And if anyone is looking for a last-minute Christmas gift, then these flights will go on sale immediately so give the gift of travel this year!”
The news of the new flight comes just days after the cheap airline announced the scrapping of its e London Gatwick to New York route from next summer.
Passengers who have already booked these flights will be offered a full refund, or they can fly from London Heathrow instead.
JetBlue also confirmed that their London Heathrow-New York flight will continue twice a day.
JetBlue reintroduced free carry on luggage for economy passengers earlier this year.
JetBlue’s President Marty St. George said in a statement: “Carry-on bags are an important piece of travel to customers, and when presented with a choice between JetBlue’s award-winning service and another carrier’s basic offering, we want JetBlue to be the easy winner.”
