Brett Goldstein Moves In Front of the Camera For ‘Shrinking’ Season 2

Brett Goldstein will be returning to the small screen for Shrinking season 2. Having co-created the Apple TV dramedy alongside the series’ lead star Jason Segel, Goldstein – best known for his role in Ted Lasso – acted as an executive producer for the show’s first season, but he’s no longer staying behind the camera. New reports stated that Brett Goldstein will be joining the cast of Shrinking as it moves into season 2, having found the “perfect role” to prompt his return as a guest star. Unfortunately, Apple is keeping this “perfect role” under wraps, with the show’s second season still in the works as we speak.

Co-created by Brett Goldstein and Jason Segel, Shrinking first premiered on Apple TV in January 2023. The ten-episode first season stars Segel as Jimmy Laird, a therapist who, in grieving his wife’s death, decides to become perfectly, painfully honest with his clients and begins breaking all sorts of ethical barriers to tell them exactly what he thinks, effecting massive changes in their lives – and his own. Jessica Williams and Harrison Ford star as Jimmy’s colleagues, along with Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, Christa Miller, and Ted McGinley, among others. Segel and Williams have both earned Emmy nominations for their roles in season 1 of the series.

With Shrinking season 2 currently in production, Brett Goldstein is slated to move from behind the camera to in front of it. Not much is known about the role Goldstein will be taking – all we know for now is that it’s a guest role, with the rest of the details being kept under lock and key, presumably until more progress is made on the new season. The role marks the next step in the relationship between Goldstein, Apple TV, and Warner Bros., with Goldstein having previously starred as Roy Kent in all three seasons of Ted Lasso.

After leaving Ted Lasso, Brett Goldstein launched a solo comedy tour and can next be seen – or rather, heard – as the voice of Roland in The Garfield Movie, scheduled for release in 2024.
