Bosco Martis, Remo D’Souz, Ganesh Acharya Express Disappointment Over RRR’s Naatu Naatu Choreographer Not Being Celebrated After Oscar Win

During a recent discussion among fellow choreographers in the film industry, Bosco Martis expressed his opinion that Prem Rakshit, Naatu Naatu’s choreographer deserved greater recognition.

SS Rajamouli has always won hearts with his epic films such as RRR, Baahubali: The Beginning, Eega, and others. The last film under SS Rajamouli’s direction was RRR, an epic global success. The movie features massy action and breathtaking songs. However, one song which stood out and turned out to be massive was Naatu Naatu, featuring Ram Charan and Jr NTR exhibiting their best dance moves. While the songs and the dance received all the appreciation and even Oscars, no one really talked about the choreographers who choreographed the dance moves. Addressing the same matter, choreographers Remo D’Souza, Kruti Mahesh, Bosco Martis, Vijay Ganguly, Ganesh Acharya, and dancer Shakti Mohan during a choreographers’ conference on the YouTube channel Nritya Shakti said that choreographers don’t get the credit they deserve.

It’s Shocking,‘ Says Bosco

During the conversation, Bosco said, it is important for the film and their team to understand that everyone who has worked during the film should be appreciated for the work they have done. He said, “I was shocked… Naatu Naatu, the song was celebrated at the Oscars. So, I was like why was the choreographer not celebrated? That song was performed at the Oscars; they performed those steps that he created. When you get that platform, you make sure that you are visible, that you are celebrated because you have put in a lot of effort and hard work, and not only India, but the world danced to that song.”

Remo’s Take on The Matter

On this, Remo also agreed and said, “And no actor, no director, no music composer, nobody mentioned his name.” Before the release of RRR, the song Naatu Naatu turned out to be a massive hit among the audience. Because of its catchy beats and undeniable dancing rhythm, the song became an immediate hit and was loved by fans.

However, as much as the film received appreciation and so as the song, Prem Rakshit, who was the choreographer of the Oscar-winning song Naatu Naatu, was not given the appropriate credits that he should have received for creating a mind-blowing dance piece.

About RRR

Helmed by SS Rajamouli, RRR was a historical fiction based on two Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Charan), and Komaram Bheem (Rama Rao). The movie features Ram Charan, Jr NTR in lead roles. Apart from these two, the movie also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in key roles.
