Billiat had other plans but was convinced to join Chiefs

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Khama Billiat reportedly had other plans and was reluctant to join the club from Mamelodi Sundowns back in 2018.

At the age of 28, the Zimbabwean made a big move to Amakhosi which caught many local football fans by surprise.

Many expected Billiat to succeed but his career at Chiefs never took off

Despite a promising start to his Chiefs career, the star faded away six months later and failed to replicate his Sundowns form which saw him rated as one of the best PSL players of his generation.

Billiat’s contract with Amakhosi ended in June however the Soweto giants were keen on extending it by a year but the Zimbabwean rejected the offer due to a salary cut.

BILLIAT HAD PLANS TO MOVE OVERSEAS BEFORE CHIEFS CAME?

According to a report from Soccer Laduma, the star was convinced to join Amakhosi although he had other plans after his contracted ended at Sundowns.

“Khama Billiat didn’t want to go to Kaizer Chiefs in the first place and had to be convinced to sign. He had other plans and wanted to leave for overseasons when he exited Sundowns but the offer that was made by Chiefs was too good to reject. It was important that he was advised correctly and convinced to reconsider his decision. It was for his own good,” the report read.

Since leaving Chiefs, Billiat has been clubless but multiple reports had linked him with a move to the Middel East and North Africa.
