Bihar Youtuber Manish Kashyap, who was arrested for sharing fake videos, joins BJP

Manish Kashyap, a Bihar-based YouTuber previously arrested for sharing fake videos of migrants facing harassment in Tamil Nadu, has officially joined the BJP. Out on bail currently, Kashyap joined Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday in the presence of key BJP figures like Anil Baluni, the national media department head, co-in-charge Sanjay Mayukh, and Manoj Tiwari, the party’s candidate for North East Delhi. His mother also attended the event in the national capital.
On reasons for joining the BJP, Kashyap stated, “I am here to work under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. My mother, who stood by me during my nine-month jail term, encouraged me to join the BJP.”

Tiwari, a contender for his third term in the Lok Sabha from North East Delhi, welcomed Kashyap to the party and alleged that Kashyap faced legal trouble because some individuals aimed to silence him.

Tiwari said, “Kashyap always supported PM Narendra Modi and raised issues concerning the people. Unfortunately, non-BJP governments caused him hardships.” He assured Kashyap of respect and opportunities based on his capabilities in the future.

With a substantial following of over 80 lakh on YouTube, Kashyap has been vocal about his political ambitions and has been known for his support towards Modi. He has been critical of RJD leader Tejashvi Yadav and had previously contested assembly elections unsuccessfully. As the Congress nominates Kanhaiya Kumar, also from Bihar, to run against Tiwari in North East Delhi, there is a possibility that Kashyap might campaign for the BJP candidate, given their shared Bhumihar background.
